I need a Job!

Here's the scenario..

There are rumors that your department(IT) is shutting down. (due to outsourcing )

There's an internal opening for an exec in Procurement and Tender unit which is the due date is in 2days.

You still cannot foresee, whats going to happen in the future-2months ahead, (since the board meeting will only be held at the end of the month)..

If the board decide to proceed with the outsourcing, you may be absorbed to other departments, or may be absorbed to the outsourced company, or you may loose your job, with minimal pay since the company cannot be offering VSS for the time being.


Now you tell me.. what should i be doing? Apply for the internal opening or not?
Pros:
-i have a job for sure
-new environment/new experience

Cons:
-change of field, so not related to IT, kind of a waste actually. :P
-if the board decided not to proceed on the outsourcing, i'm going to regret the career change. ngee...


Or, should i just wait for the results and start to plan what's next after the confirmation?
(yes, i know, i should be actively in search for new job right now. :))
